Our Founders

Pastor John Paul and Marilyn Chaney moved to Pittsburgh from the Chicago area in the year 2000 to plant an inner city community-based church called Seeds of Hope. Through this ministry, it became clear that the best way to serve the needs of the surrounding area was through a separate non-profit organization. In June of 2004, Earthen Vessels Outreach (EVO) was founded with a mission to build social, racial and economic bridges to connect communities, organizations and people in the East End of Pittsburgh. EVO’s vision is to walk alongside children and families, on a long-term basis, as they are guided into healthy, functional, mature adults.

Our Team

Over twenty full time and part time staff, and dozens of volunteers are a part of the work that we do. They are committed individuals who are passionate about our mission.
