Computer technology is a vital skill in today's age as computers and the Internet have become more prominent in our lives. EVO partners with Wireless Neighborhoods and Iknowthat.com to help strengthen community networks in reaching out to children in order to equip them with computer skills. Basic skills taught include word processing and Internet use. Children learn to use word processing software to type up assignments for school. The Internet is also a fantastic resource tool for the children to look up different topics for their science calendars and apply it to their school assignments. As the children learn to use the Internet, they also learn how to communicate via e-mail with their family and friends, resulting in better communication skills. By learning to use the computer, the reading and communication skills of the children improve. Children and youth who receive computer education will have better opportunities with regards to future employment and advancement in those jobs.
